Alfred Jarry.

Ubu Roi. Drama in five acts according to the editions published during the author's lifetime and the icono-bio-bibliographic documents relating to it. Paris, Librairie Charpentier et Fasquelle, 1921. In-12 : black half-box, apparent stitching on double grey strap on the spine, black revorim boards, "manhole cover" mold, with red and beige mosaic calf patches on the first board, untrimmed, covers preserved (Jean de Gonet). Corrected proofs of the edition of Jean Saltas with eleven corrections by his hand. Stamp of the Imprimerie Kapp of August 10, 1921. The edition published in 1921 includes, in addition to the preface by Saltas, two portraits of Jarry, the Chanson du Décervelage and a bibliography of Ubu Roi. Signed autograph letter on the title page: to Mr. Charles Pasquier/in memory of Alfred Jarry/in sympathy of his/collaborator and friend/J. Saltas The following handwritten note has been added to the back cover: "offered by Doctr Jean Saltass [sic] UBU ROI. Original edition corrected before the imprimatur. Wait for the cover to bind it." The cover indeed bears the mention of eighteenth thousand. Of Greek origin, Jean Saltas (1865-1954) collaborated with Jarry on the project of the Papesse Jeanne, an adaptation of the novel by Emmanuel Rhoïdès, published in 1908, after Jarry's death. He came to Jarry's aid at the end of his life.
