[JARRY].RACHILDE.

Renunciation of the bequest of the Tripod of Alfred Jarry. Paris, November 17 [19]07. Autograph signed by Marguerite Eymery, known as Rachilde, wife of Vallette, one page in-8, on the letterhead of Mercure de France. Declaration in Rachilde's hand written fifteen days after Jarry's death. Rachilde "declares to renounce purely and simply to the legacy instituted in my favor by Mr Alfred Jarry by holographic will dated May 28, 1906 deposited in the study of Me Gustave Meng, notary in Laval, (Mayenne) the said legacy consisting in lands located in the commune of Coudray (Seine et Oise)". In May 1906, while he was staying with his sister in Laval, Jarry had written his will, making Alfred Vallette his executor. He left his friend Rachilde a portrait and the famous Tripode, a cabin on stilts of about fifteen square meters that he had built on a piece of land he had acquired in 1904, near Corbeil. A notice of Jarry's funeral, on November 3, 1907, addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Vallette is attached. Double sheet in-4 with handwritten address on the back. The funeral service took place in the church Saint-Sulpice and the burial in the cemetery of Bagneux.
