Bernar VENET (1941)

Bernar Venet was one of the pioneers of conceptual art in the 1960s. Living in New York at the time, he began by developing an art form that was influenced by his scientific and mathematical interests before creating the steel sculptures that would make him known to the general public. His arches and other indeterminate lines in corten steel gradually took possession of urban spaces and public and private collections around the world. The line is the central subject of his work, he works it in all its forms and all its dimensions in sculpture as well as in engraving. Indeed, Bernar Venet is a multidisciplinary artist who also illustrates himself in the graphic arts, ranging from painting to drawing and printmaking. The etching that we present here is one of the techniques used in the artist's engraved works. Although it seems to use a simple form, Venet's production shows a perfectly mastered complexity that contributes to the timeless poetry that emerges from this work.
