French writer, born in Marseille in 1868, companion of Romain Rolland at the rue d'Ulm. One of the founders of the "Nouvelle Revue Française". He was hunted down by the Germans during the Second World War. He is one of the little-known writers of the first half of the 20th century. He influenced the writers of his time and was friends with many of the painters and musicians of his day. His biographies bring him close to a French Zweig. Wood-engraved color illustrations by Jacques Beltrand, printed by Henri Jacob. Good condition.
