Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875) Bacchante with ivy Bronze with light brown patina Signed " JBt Carpeaux" in cursive letters Stamp of the founder " CIRE PERDUE A.A. HEBRARD" and bears the number " (10) H. 23 cm, on a black marble base from Belgium H. 12 cm This rare female head in bronze, of which the only known edition is that of A.A. Hébrard (11 proofs listed in the archives, including number 10), takes the face of one of the three bacchantes from the artist's most emblematic group, La Danse.
