A fine pair of cased percussion pistols by Jaquet

dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Geneva, Octagonal, rifled, browned, 11 mm cal barrels (bores needs cleaning, visible rifling), signed 'H. JAQUET A GENEVE' in gold, the base with number '1' and '2' in gold between floral engravings, precision front sight, mark of the Liege test bench on one side; finely engraved tangs with adjustable rear sight; forward spring locks with very fine floral engravings. Three-quarter wooden stocks carved with floral motifs, grooved butts. Iron mounts decorated en suite, trigger guards with finger support, set trigger. In their large wooden case with brass mounts, lined with velvet, complete with many tools including the key. See 'Der Neue Stöckel', vol. I, page 587. Henri Jaquet is documented in Geneve from 1830 to 1880. length 41.5 cm.
