A COPPER ALLOY ENAMELED "LANDSCAPE" SNUFF BOTTLE China, late Qing Dynasty Copper alloy. H. 7.9 cm. The bottle is decorated in bright enamels on either side with a cartouche, one side depicting a mountainous landscape with a figure traversing a bridge, the other with a scholar seated under a pavilion before large mountains. The base is enameled with a two-character mark "Shangxin" (appreciated by the heart), stopper is gilt. With traces of use, partially stained. Provenance: From a private collection in Lower Saxony. The snuffbottle is decorated on both sides with a cartouche in bright enamel colors, one side depicting a mountainous landscape with a figure crossing a bridge, the other a scholar sitting under a pavilion in front of large mountains. On the bottom there is a seal mark ''Shangxin'' (estimated by the heart), the stopper is gilded. With traces of use, partially stained. Provenance: From a private collection in Lower Saxony.
