Lucca Chmel got in touch with Max Fellerer and Eugen Wörle, the architects of the public outdoor swimming pool Gänsehäufel on a wooded island on the Old Danube, next to Kaisermühlen, via the Vienna City Planning Office. The design of the complex consists of a loose arrangement of intermediate and inner courtyards that create manageable spaces and thus facilitate orientation. The buildings themselves are designed strictly orthogonally, the reinforced concrete parts sharply separating light and shadow, which Chmel’s photograph skilfully brings to the fore. Über das Wiener Stadtbauamt bekam Lucca Chmel den Kontakt zu Max Fellerer und Eugen Wörle, den Architekten des öffentlichen Freibades Gänsehäufel an einer bewaldeten Insel an der Alten Donau, nächst Kaisermühlen. Die Gestaltung der Anlage besteht in einer lockeren Anordnung von Zwischen- und Innenhöfen, die überschaubare Räume schaffen und so die Orientierung erleichtern. Die Baukörper selbst sind streng orthogonal entworfen, die Stahlbetonteile trennen Licht und Schatten scharfkantig, was Chmels Aufnahme gekonnt zur Anschauung bringt.
