His luxuriously produced, yet popular volume ‘Calli e Canali in Venezia’ included 100 topographical photogravures in subtle black and sepia tones on creamy, luxurious thick paper. It captures an idyllic world of palazzos, canals, and bridges, before the annual invasion of millions of tourists. Ferdinando Ongania war ein Antiquar mit einem Geschäft am Markusplatz, dessen Liebe zu Venedig ihn dazu inspirierte, die Architektur der Stadt festzuhalten. Sein luxuriös produzierter, gleichwohl populärer Band ‘Calli e Canali in Venezia’ enthält 100 topografische Fotogravuren in subtilen Schwarz- und Sepiatönen auf cremigem, luxuriösem, dickem Papier. Er zeigt eine idyllische Welt der Palazzi, Kanäle und Brücken aus einer Zeit, bevor die Stadt alljährlich von Millionen von Touristen überschwemmt wurde.
