Jacques TARDI (né en 1946)

Le démon des glaces - Dans l'antre du démon Indian ink on cardboard for plate 9 of chapter 6. 45,6 x 36,2 cm. Dargaud, 1974. Le Démon des glaces is one of Jacques Tardi's very first albums, for which he is responsible for the script and drawing. The album makes reference to the literature of the end of the XIXth-beginning of the XXth century, in particular to Jules Verne who gives his name to the famous ship of the story. The characters of this story return in the fourth opus of the Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec. Showing a high level of self-mockery, Tardi does not hesitate in this later album to qualify his own story as "a book [which], although very good, never knew the success it would have deserved."
