Original work/Louis Koyongonda. Oil on panel done with a knife and illustrating a tam tam playing. Signed and dated January 5, 1961. 50 X 60 cm Louis Koyongonda (1918-1999) was born in Basoka, Congo. He traveled in Africa and the Middle East. In 1951, he joined Pierre Moonens' group in Kinshasa. The Moonens School exhibited at the Prix de Rome and created many emulators among the popular painters. In 1962, the Congolese Prime Minister, Cyrille Adoula, offered John Fitzgerald Kennedy at the White House a painting by this artist "Nativity". This work is part of the collection "John F Kennedy presidential library and museum" of Boston.
