This beautiful work represents Lady Hamilton mourning her lover, Admiral Horatio Nelson, who died in 1805. Lady Hamilton is sitting by the sea, with sailing ships on the horizon, symbolizing the loss of the sailor. Nelson's feathered hat sits at her feet.
