Beautiful fragments of Iznik tiles Siliceous paste with polychrome decoration painted under transparent colorless glaze. Turkey, Iznik, second half of the 16th century, Ottoman Empire. H. 24 cm These two beautiful fragments of 16th century Iznik tiles have a rare and delicate decoration, on white slip, of large polychrome mandorles of saz leaves and fleurons, centered with beautiful floral compositions made of carnations carnations, hyacinths and tulips. A tile of the same group with similar decoration is preserved in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (Inv. Albert Museum in London (Inv. No. 405A-1900).
