TRIPLE EVOLUTION SOFA Italy, 18th century Gilt wood; brocaded silk Wear to upholstery H. 108 cm, W. 166 cm, D. 66 cm This triple evolution sofa, probably of Venetian work, presents a precious brocaded silk upholstery decorated with flori vases of the same period in a richly carved and gilded wooden structure, all in curves and counter-curves. The back is animated by three pediments decorated with leafy clasps. Branches bearing berries wrap around the volutes of the openwork apron. The ensemble rests on eight cambered feet with very fine moldings.
