Description

SWITZERLAND Very important piece of furniture with two bodies, the lower one with three doors ending at the left end with a globular fountain in a semicircular place, an intermediate part in recess with four blind arcatures serving as a background to the piece of furniture, having as a base eight small drawers in line. The upper body overhangs four doors with the same pattern of arches topped by a band of carved frieze. The front is entirely made of native wood veneer, especially the doors and drawers in sycamore maple, with relief pilasters with shaded tortoiseshell motifs. The pewter part stamped by Johann CILTENER, master in ARTH, canton of SCHWYZ (XVIIIth century). Trim of cut and engraved iron.
