Signed lower left H. Zuber 35.5 x 50.5 cm
Henri Zuber's talent for drawing and painting was revealed during the great journeys he made in his youth, when he belonged to the Imperial Navy of Napoleon III. He brought back many landscapes of Africa and the Orient. He was the first artist to paint and describe Korea, which he visited in 1866, in a book published in 1873. In 1872, he set up his studio in Paris, which became one of his favorite themes, working with the same talent in oil and watercolor.
