Neizvestnyj, Ernst I. Untitled. 4 etchings on 1 sheet on wove paper (papier vélin). In the lower margin with a handwritten and dated dedication of the artist in pencil, there also dated. 1974. plate size: 17 x 13 cm each. Sheet size: 31 x 77 cm. Mounted on light black cardboard. E. Neizvestnyj (1925-2016) is undoubtedly one of the most famous artists in Russia of the 20th century. His own style, elaborated in the "catacomb", was influenced by the post-war period. Increasing conflicts with Soviet cultural policy finally led to the éclat of the Bulldozer exhibition in 1962 and to his emigration via Switzerland to the USA in 1976, where he subsequently taught additionally at Harvard and Columbia Universities. His later work again included monumental commissions in Russia. - The artist dedicated the sheet in 1974 to the couple Maria and Ernst ("von") Pörzgen, known to him personally, who for many years performed journalistic duties in Russia and from whose possession the work also comes. - Slightly stained.
