First edition. - Hoover 506 - In this treatise on the origin of formed stones, Lange argued that fossils were formed by dusty germs that had penetrated the soil. With this erroneous view Lange influenced Voltaire, who still in 1768 in his treatise "Des Singularités de la Nature" wanted to present the "Petrification" not as evidence of the Flood, but, with reference to Lange, as an artificial phenomenon. - Engraved bookplate on both inside covers. - Good copy.
