First edition, a second appeared in 1853 - Nissen ZBI 1613 - Lindner 11.0751.02 - not in the Chapin Collection. - One of the rarest and also most beautiful German dog books, showing various breeds, mostly with one dog per plate, a few also with two or more dogs in a landscape. - Title page a bit creased and with old handwritten ownership inscription, text partly foxed, the beautiful plates partly a bit fingerstained at the lower corner, otherwise fresh and in bright colors.
