With the original envelope. Very personal and poetic letter from the German writer and translator (1928-2006) who taught German Studies at NYU from 1965. According to the envelope, addressed to antiquarian, writer and artist Sibylle Kaldewey, "dearest, best, most beautiful, finest, smartest, most fragrant, and by now hopefully not also very annoying." He looks forward to her Christmas visit and offers her - under safety precautions - "the second half of my bed." "It will all be so very nice, you won't even want to leave. I'd like that very much, too, because I'll never get tired of you." - Enclosed: the same. Changes to a passage in a letter and other poems. Wiesbaden 1960. 107 p. 18.5 x 12 cm.
