A Chinese Yijun pottery vase, hu, 18th century, atop a short flaring foot, the bulbous body rising to a protruding rim, the shoulder flanked by a pair of moulded horned-head ring handles, covered in a lavender-blue glaze with shades of darker blue, the base unglazed, four-character ge ming xiang zao mark to base, 25.7cm high 十八世紀 宜鈞藍釉雙耳壺 《葛明祥造》款 Note: Ge Mingxiang (1736-1795) was born in Dingshan, Yixing. In his native Yixing, Ge created pottery wares glazed with a Jun-type glaze, also known as Yijun. These wares were especially popular overseas, finding favour with Japanese buyers who valued the rich tones of the Yijun glaze, naming it 'sea cucumber glaze'. 品相報告 Condition Report: A large chip to the glaze and pottery around the footrim. Some pitting to the glaze, with some deep pits/nicks in places on the exterior. Surface wear commensurate with age throughout.
