Diana Arcaizante, patinated bronze sculpture, ffs. century - pps. 19th century. Bronze model of the so-called Diana Arcaizante, a Roman marble sculpture with traces of polychromy found in 1760 in the excavations of the domus M. Spurio Saturnino and D. Volcio Modesto in Pompeii, under the auspices of Charles III. Charles III, who had left Naples a year earlier, showed great interest in the progress of the excavations, as can be read in the correspondence he maintained with his secretary Bernando Tanucci and which is preserved in the Simancas archive. In these letters, he asked to be sent drawings of the sculpture found and even a plaster cast of it. Measurements: 108 cm high.
