* Eskimo Amulet Alaska Thule culture (18th century or earlier) Walrus tooth L. 4 cm Provenance : - Former collection Ernest Le Véel - Former collection Bernard et Bertrand Bottet - Galerie Alain de Monbrison - Galerie Maine Durieu - Private collection, Paris Publication : - Pierre Amrouche, Marie-Laure Terrin-Amrouche, Collection Bernard et Bertrand Bottet, Paris, Éditions Amrouche, 2013, described under No. 3 of the "Eskimos" section of the first booklet of the Bottet collection Very beautiful amulet depicting a finely modeled whale: fins, tail, mouth and eyes faithfully depicted, a porthole crossing the body. The provenance and an old collection number that is difficult to read are inscribed on the belly in black ink. A lobe of the tail formerly broken and glued back.
