PELCOQ Jules (XIXème)

Suite of seven caricatural drawings with black ink brush and wash on paper representing "Scenes of the Parisian life" like "Les Folies Bergères", "Les courses au bois de Boulogne - les Sportsmen de la galerie", "Pré Catelan - L'Oasis des Saxophones" and "Entende cordiale entre bêtes et gens" etc. Signed Jules Pelcop and one dated 1858. French school. These compositions were used as a basis for the engravings made by Denoue, the artist's collaborator for the illustrations of the "Journal Amusant" in 1858, as reproduced in "Les mœurs et la caricature en France", Paris, 1888. Dim: +/- 225x345cm and 365x545mm.
