Description

Lot consisting of two Earrings; Ibero-Roman culture.

Lot consists of two earrings; Ibero-Roman culture. Gold and vitreous paste. Measurements: 2.5 x 1.5 cm (smaller); 4 x 1 cm (larger). Set of earrings that belong to different cultures, both are made of gold, although one of them has a decorative element made of vitreous paste. The other is defined by a simple design based on metal braiding. Iberian society was highly hierarchical, with the warrior and noble classes being the highest. The priestly class competed with it in power, and the craftsmen were also well regarded. Among the neighbouring peoples, and especially among the Greeks, the Iberian warriors were particularly admired, since they fearlessly threw themselves into combat and resisted fighting without retreating until death, even when the battle was already decided against them. In fact, the Greeks even hired Iberian mercenaries for their own wars.
