Giovanni Volpato (1735-1803) et al. Paoli (Paolo Antonio). Avanzi delle antichità esistenti a Pozzuoli, Cuma e Baja. [Naples], end of 1768. One vol. large in-fol. [375 x 515], containing an allegorical title engraved by Marra, a false title engraved by Volpato after Falciatore, a dedication to Ferdinand IV engraved by Volpato after Fischetti Cioffredo, 38 leaves of engraved text alternating with 66 plates engraved with etching and burin by Cardon, La Marra, Nicole, Volpato... after Natali, Magri, Rajola et al. Very nice proofs on 18th century ivory laid paper watermarked "Montgolfier Annonay", some of them double-page, the lines of the lettering still clearly visible (evidence of proofs among the first pulled). Slight trace of oxidation at the edges of the leaves. Rare and tiny accidents, foxing, short tears or folds. Oxidation at the mounting tab of the double plates. All margins. Bound in brown calf with gilt filleting, spine with 7 ornate bands bearing the title (very faded).
