Pair of ISA Bergamo armchairs, 1950s. Brass and fabric. Reupholstered. Measurements: 72 x 79 x 82 cm. The pair of armchairs presented here have a very clean and dynamic cut in accordance with the two-tone fabric, as well as generous proportions that guarantee comfort. They have curved armrests and the seat rests on elegant golden supports with curved ends. The I.S.A. factory (Industria Salotti e Arredamenti), also known as ISA, ISA Bergamo and ISA Italia, was founded in the late 1940s near Bergamo, in Ponte San Pietro. Since then it has produced a series of striking models designed by the renowned architect and designer Gio Ponti, as well as by Ico and Luisa Parisi. He made furniture and seating models for Veronesi, Fiori and Morelli. In the 1960s it had a furniture production department for the American market and, during this period, acquired the licence to produce the famous Sheriff Chair by Brazilian architect Sergio Rodrigues.
