BOBOBO PICCOLI (Milan, 1927-1981) for FONTANA ARTE. Set of 2 wall lamps "Clessidra", 1970s. Metal, frosted glass. Measurements: 50 x 50 cm (each). Pair of wall lamps made of varnished metal and frosted glass. They have a minimalist design based on the combination of semicircular shapes in white and ivory. Born into a family of intellectuals, Bobo Piccoli enjoyed a vast culture born from the study of the great Italian artists, writers and architects. He was always interested in light in art and architecture, in cinema and theatre. He studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts with Achille Funi, Carlo Carrà and Aldo Carpi. Although painting was his main medium, Bobo Piccoli constantly sought a synthesis between the arts, which led him to carry out many of his projects with architects such as Roberto Menghi, Alberto Scarzella and Marco Zanuso. His contributions to emblematic architectural works such as the Petrolchimico di Brindisi (1959), Ian Battistoni or the Palazzo delle Stelline in Corso Magenta a Milano (1972) are exemplary. In 1968 he began working for FontanaArte in a contemplation of the relationship between art and serial products. Piccoli created several lighting elements for FontanaArte, such as the lamps Re and Regina (1968), Modulo (1969), Clessidra (1970) and the mirror Reame (1968).
