Flemish painter of the 17th century, Saint Giles Painted on parchment paper, the subject derives from Raphael Sadeler's Saint Aegidius of Nimes as a Hermit of 1594, now in the Rijks museum. At the bottom appears the Latin inscription 'Omnia subjecisti sub pedibus ejus, oves et boves universas insuper et pecora campi', Psalm 8: 'You have subdued everything under his feet, all the sheep and oxen, and also all the flocks in the camp'. Dimensions w. frame 9.8x11.8 in., sight 7.1x9.1 in.
