White marble and gilt bronze CLOCK with rich decoration of ribbons, foliage, flowers, garlands, vases, scrolls, resting on four feet, the enamelled dial signed "Charpentier et Cie Bronziers rue Charlot 8 Paris Louis XVI style, late 19th century H.: 62.5 cm W.: 50 cm D.: 20 cm Charpentier et Cie was founded in 1840 and manufactured clocks, bronzes and other objects of great decoration. In 1860, it was located at 8 rue Charlot in Paris. From 1870 onwards, the name became Lemerle-Charpentier until 1890. During the 1878 World Fair in Paris, Lemerle-Charpentier exhibited trimmings, vases, clocks, torchères and an impressive Piat clock.
