TWO DAUNIAN FUNNEL-SHAPED JARS Form I, type 25, De Juliis 1977 DATING: Subgeometric Daunian III, 400-300 BC. MATERIAL AND TECHNIQUE: Pinkish purified clay, chamois mottling, brown paint; molded by slow lathe. Funnel-shaped rim; globular body flattened at the poles; flat bottom; semi-annular stick handles, set obliquely on the shoulder, alternating with two rectangular plastic appendages; decorated with arcs of circles on the rim and shoots of leaves and stylized phytomorphic motifs alternating with horizontal bands on the shoulder and belly. PRODUCTION: daunia pottery STATE OF CONSERVATION: one intact, the other with recomposed mouth, encrusted, slight chipping DIMENSIONS: h. cm 27 and cm 22; diam. mouth cm 24,5 and cm 22 CFR.: E. M.
