ATTIC OLPE WITH BLACK FIGURES DATE: last quarter VI sec. a.. C. MATERIAL AND TECHNIQUE: pinkish figulina clay, shiny black paint; paonazzo sub-paintings, details rendered in graffito, modelled by fast lathe. Olpe with slightly everted lip, rounded and enlarged, elongated neck with continuous profile with ovoid body, ribbon handle; echinus foot, ADDITIONAL DECORATION: entirely painted black except for a large front panel and lower part of foot; on neck double band of dots. DECORATION: scene of departure of a warrior: two figures facing each other, a woman standing on the left with face in profile, with long chiton and wrapped in himation edged in purple red, in the act of handing a spear to a warrior facing her, face to the right with helmet from the long red crest lowered on the face, half-covered by a round shield, with three large red circles as episema, held in the left arm, the man also wears the schinieri and holds two spears in his right hand, lowered along the leg PRODUCTION: Attic pottery with black figures STATE OF CONSERVATION: intact DIMENSIONS: h. cm. 20.1 ORIGIN: Pandolfini Auction House, lot 194, December 1998 CFR.: J.
