Description
PROVINCE 17th century UNIDENTIFIED Silver Holy Oil box, oval shape molded with strong fillets and engraved "MONTIOY" - read probably MONTJOIE - framed by two scrolled leaves. The hinged lid is embossed with a mound and a large acanthus leaf topped by a cross (later). Inside three circular spaces leave room for three bulbs, two of which are missing. Engraved OS on both sides (Oleum Sanctum) and SC in the middle (Sacrum Chrisma) Weight : 89 g - height : 7,5 cm - length : 9,4 cm - width : 4,2 cm Condition : later cross PROVINCE XVIIth : NOT IDENTIFIED An holy oils silver box.
