JARRE Egypt, Predynastic or Thinite period, c. 3200-2900 B.C. Breach H. 9,5 cm Provenance Former Mrs. Hartmann collection, Geneva, 1950-1960s Former collection R. L. (1934-2010), Geneva, Switzerland, acquired from Mrs. Hartmann, 1975 Vase carved from a small breccia monolith. The skilful polishing of the sculptor highlights the natural decoration of the brown/red veins of the stone. The shape is very simple and elegant with a barrel-shaped body, without a foot and ending with a small angular lip; it has two cylindrical and perforated handles. The interior has been hollowed out. A Predynastic or Thinite breccia double-handled cosemtic jar. Vase carved from a small breach monolith. The sculptor's skillful polishing work clearly highlights the natural decoration of the brown / red grain of the stone.
