OUSHABTI IN THE NAME OF THE ROYAL CHANCELLOR HOROUDJA BORN OF ISETENMEHYT Egypt, Dynasty XXVII-XXX, 4th century B.C. Siliceous earthenware with green glaze H. 13.9 cm Provenance Former French collection, acquired in the 1960s-1970s Then by succession French private collection, acquired during the sale of this succession In his mummiform sheath. He wears a tripartite wig with stripes and a braided hairpiece (slightly missing). The crossed hands are holding farming tools. The legs are engraved with a hieroglyphic inscription in the form of a T with name, title and filiation. The oushebti of the chancellor of Lower Egypt Horoudja were discovered during the second half of the 19th century, probably in Giza. This high dignitary left us two series of oushebti: large specimens with chapter VI, and smaller ones with a T-inscription with title and filiation. Comparative bibliography J. L.
