PAIR OF BLACK-FIGURED AMPHORAE Etruria, 6th century B.C. Black glazed red terracotta and red paint H. 20 cm Provenance Former French collection, 1980s Accompanied by a thermoluminescence test from QED laboratory. Amphora A : One side shows a satyr with an erect phallus attracting a maenad. The other side, two naked young men, one with a spear. Each scene is framed by two friezes of points. At the neck, a frieze of tongues topped by two stylized palmettes. Amphora B : One side shows an erect satyr attracting a maenad. The other side is decorated with a combat scene between a Greek and a Scythian - one wearing a Corinthian helmet, a shield and a spear and the other wearing a Phrygian cap and holding a bow. A pair of Etruscan black-figured neck-amphora. Near the Micali painter. Late 6th - early 5th B.C. . Accompanied with a TL test from QED laboratory.
