RARE ZEBU STATUETTE West Asian art, 1st - early 1st millennium B.C. Bronze Dim. 14 x 17 cm Provenance Former A. Khalil, Dubai, UAE, 1970-1980 Private collection, acquired on 14.03.2005. Statuette in hollow cast iron, with a rectangular opening under the chest and two bezels on the top of the shoulders. A bird, which the hooked beak could characterize as a bird of prey, is placed on the hump of the zebu. Stylistically the figure is characterized by simple and poorly modeled forms. Complete but in places cracks in the metal; small gaps. Red-brown surface with traces of green patina. A western asian bronze statuette of a Zebu. Hollow cast iron statuette, with a rectangular opening under the chest and two bails on the top of the shoulders. A bird, which the hooked beak could characterize as a raptor, sits on the zebu's hump. Stylistically, the figure is characterized by simple and lightly modeled forms. Complete but in places cracks in the metal; small gaps. Red brown surface with traces of green patina. Ca. 2nd - early 1st millennium B.C
