OUSHBATI IN THE NAME OF NESBANEBDJED Egypt, 30th dynasty, 4th century B.C. Siliceous earthenware with turquoise glaze H. 16 cm Provenance Former Swiss collection acquired from the Galerie Faustus, Geneva, probably in the 1980s Mentioned in: "Statuettes égyptiennes" J-L F. Aubert, Paris, 1974, P. 255 Depicted in its mummiform sheath, it rests on a rectangular plinth. He is wearing a long smooth tripartite wig and a braided false beard, curved at the tip. The details of the face are of great finesse. The crossed hands are holding farming tools. The body is inscribed in a "T" of a horizontal register and a hieroglyphic column. The statuette belonged to Nesbanebdjed, a dignitary who had been high priest at Mendes (Nile Delta). Very nice conservation. A Late Period turquoise faience glazed shabti of Nesbanebdjed. Appeared in its mummiform sheath, and standing on a rectangular plinth. He wears the tripartite wig and a braided beard, curled at the end. The details of the face are finely executed. The crossed hands holding hoes. The body is inscribed in T-shape, with a horizontal register and a hieroglyphic column. The statuette belonged to Nesbanebdjed, a dignitary who was high priest in Mendes (Nile Delta). Very good conservation. Dynasty XXX, ca. 4th century B.C.
