With 58 illustrations by Yves BRAYER engraved on wood in colors by Gérard Angiolini. 1 vol. gd in-4 bound in full black jansenist morocco, smooth spine, gilt fillet on the back covers, raspberry moiré silk endpapers, cover and spine preserved, gilt head. Binding signed P. Aufschneider. Paris Coulouma 1951 (First edition illustrated by Brayer). Printed at 210 numbered copies, this one of the few artist's copies, accompanied in-fine by 1 suite and decomposition of the wood of a hors-texte. E.A.S. to Marie Bell " To Prouhèze the prow and the big mast of this nave that we launched together on the Ocean of passions! May 3, 51 Feast of the Ascension ". A performance took place at the Comédie Française on November 27, 1943 with Marie Bell, Madeleine Renaud, Jean-Louis Barrault, Pierre Dux and Aimé Clariond. Joints partly cracked and rubbed, otherwise a fine copy with a very fresh interior, despite some minute foxing on the first booklet.
