Christian BERARD (1902 - 1949) attributed to Etudes de costumes Two gouaches on red paper with handwritten mentions in pencil. 49 x 25 cm Bears a label: "Dress of C.Berard Coll Marie Belle" and on the back the handwritten mention "Loan of Marie Bell expo. Jean Cocteau" and the stamp of the Gallery Proscenium 35, rue de Seine Paris 6e. Under glass. Folds. "Renaud et Armide" is the only play by Jean Cocteau in which Marie Bell plays and whose costumes are by Christian Bérard. However, these costume models for Marie Bell as Armide do not seem to correspond to Jean Hugo's description of her.
