HEART AMULET-IB IN THE NAME OF II Egypt, New Kingdom, 19th dynasty Steatite; 35 x 45 mm Provenance Former collection of Franz Xaver Bachem (1857-1937), Cologne Then by descent, Dr. Franz Carl Bachem collection (1898-1976) Collection Mercedes Bachem, née Barquet (1904-1987) Collection Monika Roth Weiler, Meersburg (née Bachem, 1939) An Egyptian steatite heart-ib amulet. With jar-shaped body, small lug handles to the side, with suspension ring to the top. Engraved to one side with the name of the dead : "ii"; on the reverse the standing figure of a heron, known as the benu bird New-Kingdom, Dynasty XIX. Ca. 12th century B.C.
