RING WITH PORTRAIT OF SERAPIS Roman art, 3rd - 4th century Solid gold; TD 58; 22 g Provenance Former private collection, Paris A roman massive gold ring with an engraved portrait of Serapis. With angular hoop made of volutes and acanthus motif, and broad shoulders. Surmounted by an hexagonal box set with a very high conical bezel, the flat surface engraved with a portrait of the god Serapis in profile towards left.
