A LOBED BRONZE BALUSTER VASE WITH GOURD HANDLES AND A SPIDER A LOBED BRONZE BALUSTER VASE WITH GOURD HANDLES AND A SPIDER Japan, 19 th century The lobed baluster-shaped vase with a spreading circular foot ring, waisted neck, and lipped rim, patinated to an attractive brown finish, cast in relief around the neck with a pair of gourd handles, the body with a small spider and palm blades. HEIGHT 18 cm Condition: Good condition with some wear, few tiny nicks here and there, and minor light surface scratches and casting irregularities.

Imari dish. Japan, late 18th-early 19th century. White porcelain with blue, red and gilt decorations. Restored. Measurements: 3 x 27.5 x 27.5 cm. Imari pieces were produced in Japan from the third quarter of the 17th century until 1730-35, although there was a revival of the style during the 19th century. Decoratively, Imari is very free, with compositions that occupy the entire space of the piece, generally asymmetrical, combining different motifs and cartouches of different shapes, as seen here.
