A FAMILLE ROSE ‘WU SHUANG PU’ PORCELAIN JAR China, Qing Dynasty, 19th century Adorned in famille rose enamels with four heroes of ‘The Table of the Peerless Heroes’ also known as Wu Shuang Pu, amongst them, as well as with calligraphies. An old collector’s label in French to the base reading ‘Plus de Cent Ans d’Age’, lit. ‘More than hundred years old’. A later wooden lid. H (the sole jar): 20,5 cm Note: This decor would have been made after a book, ‘The Table of Peerless Heroes’, also known as ‘Wu Shuang Pu’ (無雙譜) first published in 1694 and illustrated Jin Shi (金史, c.1625-1695).
