AN AMAZING LOT OF NINETEEN ANTIQUE CARNELIAN BEADS

AN AMAZING LOT OF NINETEEN ANTIQUE CARNELIAN BEADS South East Asia, presumably Cambodia, circa 1000 AD or later. Consisting of nineteen biconical and faceted beads, slightly different in size and carved from semi translucent carnelian. The stones of interesting hues showing subtle transition from iron red and pink coral to warm and yellowish creamy colors, enriched with darker inclusions. Central drilling showing ancient toolmarks. Condition: Good condition with some expected wear, natural inclusions, small notches, and minor weathering commensurate with age. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
