AN IMPORTANT MAJAPAHIT TERRACOTTA STATUE OF A LADY East Java, 14th-15th century. Modeled as a noblewoman, standing on a base with her legs together, the face looking downwards with a gentle expression, adorned with elaborate jewelry, the hair tied in the back behind a tiara. The dress tied at the waist with intricate details. Condition: Restored, the left hand missing, chips, and extensive wear. Provenance: From an important Italian private collection. Dimensions: Height 79 cm Literature comparison: Compare a terracotta Majapahit column surround, dated to the 14th to 15th century Java, in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, accession number 1992.151.
