A BIZEN-WARE CERAMIC FIGURE OF KANNON

The goddess of mercy cast standing, the right hand raised in the semui or vitarka gesture, with a serene facial expression and downcast eyes beneath an urna, flanked by pendulous earlobes, wearing a finely crafted voluminous robe with a beaded necklace, the hair set in a high topknot, all surmounted on a lotus pedestal. The signature incised to the lower part of the backside.
Condition: Good condition with minor surface wear and tiny chips to edges around the base.
