A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN KANGXI REVIVAL ‘SCHOLARS’ BOWL China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) The deep rounded sides rising from a short foot, finely painted in rich underglaze cobalt blue tones around the outer wall with a group of scholars examining scroll paintings in a rocky landscape, surrounded by pine trees and swirling clouds. The base with an apocryphal six-character Kangxi mark within a double circle. Condition: Good condition with expected wear to the glaze and fritting to the upper rim. Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
