A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN KANGXI REVIVAL GARLIC VASE

A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN KANGXI REVIVAL GARLIC VASE China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The pear-shaped body rising from a short foot to a slender neck surmounted by a garlic-head mouth, finely painted in rich underglaze cobalt blue to the exterior. The belly decorated with square reserves enclosing depictions of landscapes and scholar’s desk with auspicious symbols. The neck with a decorative band of geometrical patterns and floral motifs, the mouth with rectangular reserves enclosing finely painted flowers. Condition: Excellent condition with some firing imperfections. Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since. Weight: 512 g Dimensions: Height 20.4 g
