FOUR SMALL BLUE AND WHITE CERAMIC JARS

FOUR SMALL BLUE AND WHITE CERAMIC JARS China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). One hexagonal jar with rounded sides rising from a short foot, two small globular jars with a short, cylindrical neck, one jar of baluster body with concave neck and everted lip. Motifs of clouds, waves, fish, and fish scales as well as geometrical and floral patterns painted in underglaze blue to the exterior. Each jar with glaze neatly stopping at the base. Condition: One jar with extensive flakes to the glaze, one jar with a chip to the upper rim, otherwise fine condition with some expected wear and minor firing imperfections. Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
